Sai was a Sekirei that debuted during the attack on Izumo Inn when she, together with Uzume and Shi tried to steal a Jinki from Minato on Higa Izumi's orders[1]. During this assault she was gravely injured by Homura but was nonetheless able to threaten Minato's life. Uzume shielded Minato and took her lethal blow for him[2][3].

Appearance[]

Sai is a young woman of slender build, she has short blonde hair, with several strands reaching her chin, and a large strand sticking up from the top of her head, bending towards the back of her head, and light-coloured eyes.[1] She wore an alternatively dark and light-coloured top that exposed her stomach, dark leather shorts held up by a belt, a white and black choker, and dark stockings.[1]

Personality[]

Sai seemed to be of impatient character, growing annoyed with Uzume's prolonged conversation with Minato and Kazehana.[1] She was prone to attack and destroy without thinking things through, damaging Izumo Inn with a few casual strikes, while proclaiming that Higa's party and Uzume ought to just "destroy the entire place"[1]. Her interaction with Homura revealed her to be intimidated by her Ashikabi Izumi Higa, and afraid of failing him in her mission to retrieve the Jinki possessed by Minato's party.[1] She was adamant in her belief that Sekirei that cannot effectively serve their Ashikabi have no reason to continue existing.[2] Despite being in agony due to cuts and burns suffered from being attacked and overwhelmed by Homura, she was strong-willed enough to attempt one last counterattack by flinging her blades at Minato, and brave enough to stand her ground against Homura when the fire-manipulating Sekirei began to fight seriously.[2] Her partner Shi also mentions that she gets easily flustered and annoyed.[1] This is best demonstrated through her becoming furious at Shi for referring to her as "Sa-Chan", and worrying about the potential involvement of the Discipline Squad in the ongoing matters due to their attack on an Ashikabi's home.[1]

Abilities and Powers[]

Sai Blades

Sai's rope-blades.

Sai fought by utilizing long strings held between her fingers, using them like whips. These strings appeared to have blades attached to them, which could be used either with the whip-like strings or flung at opponents without the strings. [1] [2] She displayed considerable physical strength, [1] speed,[1][2], dexterity,[1] and endurance [2].

Major Battles[]

Sai vs. Homura (lost)

History[]

Nothing about Sai's past is known in detail, although it can be assumed that she was raised by MBI in much the same way as Tsukiumi, Musubi, and other, more prominent Sekirei were, received tuning and training, and was released by MBI to participate in the Sekirei Plan. She also appears to be friends with Shi, indicating a possible history. At some point she met Izumi Higa, and was winged by him.

Synopsis[]

Sai first appears during the Third Stage, walking down the street towards Izumo Inn alongside Shi and behind Uzume, and is quickly detected by Kazehana. [1] Sai becomes frustrated at Shi when the latter begins to express worry at the thought of the Disciplinary Squad becoming involved in their operation because of their choice to attack an Ashikabi's residence, which Sai dismisses, also getting annoyed at Shi's pet name for her.[1] Sai commands Uzume to attack Kazehana, and watches as the two exchange words and blows, later growing annoyed at Uzume's hesitation and sentimentality, and proclaiming that the trio ought to utterly destroy Izumo Inn in order to acquire Minato's Jinki. [1] Her frenzied attacks on the front of the Inn draw Homura's attention and ire, who casually comments that Sai "actually did it."[1] Homura's threats of involving Miya in the fight cause Sai to hesitate in attacking, and the Fire Sekirei offers Sai the chance to retreat, which she rejects, claiming that her master, Izumi Higa, would be angry with her and Shi for failing him.[1] When Homura reveals her name and number, claiming that if she didn't bother to defend the Inn, Miya would be angry at her failure, Sai curses, intimidated by her opponent being a single number.[1] When Minato convinces Uzume to rejoin their side by revealing his group's plan to rescue her Ashikabi, Sai's attention in drawn away from Homura as she furiously demands to know what "Number 10" is doing.[2] When Uzume tells Sai and Shi that she no longer has any reason to work with them or their Ashikabi, and to leave the Inn at once due to Homura and Kazehana vastly outclassing them in power and experience, Sai expresses indignation, and proudly clarifies that as a Sekirei of the "Ashikabi of the East", she has a duty to see the fight and mission through.[2] Sai is informed by her opponent that she'll be going all out, and charges Homura shortly thereafter, slinging her knife whips at the other Sekirei.[2] Homura uses her Sword of Flame technique as Sai gets within range, slicing into Sai's chest and gravely injuring her, as Kazehana similarly defeats Shi with minimal effort.[2] Homura, Minato, Uzume, and Kazehana begin talking and reconciling as Sai and Shi fall defeated, but Sai is revealed to still be conscious/active, albeit barely.[2] Realizing that a cheap shot on Minato will terminate Kazehana, Homura, and Minato's other Sekirei, allowing for her to get revenge and remain in Higa's good graces, Sai slings her knives at Minato's back.[2] However, Uzume takes the hit for him by standing between the two.[3] Expressing regret that she failed, Sai falls limp, eliminated from the Plan, as Mianto's party expresses their anguish, and Uzume too, falls to her injuries and is eliminated.[3] Later, Natsuo, Benitsubasa, and Haihane approach the group, presumably to collect the three bodies, although Natsuo only expresses interest in collecting Uzume's when addressing Minato.[3]
